Description of the Environmental Management System

CARGILL SLU has been ISO 14001 certified since 1998, on September 14 and as a result of this it voluntarily adhered to the Community Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) since 2001, obtaining its first EMAS certification.

(E-CAT-S-000013), complying with Regulation (EC) No. 1221/2009, which was renewed in 2018 with Resolution of 23-05-18. Regulation (EU) 2018/2026.

On an annual basis, and as established in the ISO 14001 standard, an audit is carried out by a certifying entity, in this case AENOR, in order to evaluate the management system and detect failures in order to take the pertinent actions for improvement.

CARGILL SLU during 2019 carried out the adaptation of the management system from the ISO 14001:2004 standard to the 14001:2015 version, which was audited by AENOR on June 26 and 27, 2019.

Taking into account the new Regulation 1505/2017, which amends Annexes I, II and III of Regulation (EC) No. 1221/2009, CARGILL SLU performs the identification and assessment of its risks and opportunities, identification of its context and stakeholders, continues to perform internal and external communications of its Management System and reinforces the participation and consultation of its workers in its workplace. This environmental statement is made based on Annex IV of Regulation (EC) No. 1221/2009, including, however, aspects requested in Regulation 1505/2017.

CARGILL SLU currently has Environmental Authorization reference B1CS160151 of 2019. The plant submitted a substantial change of this environmental authorization on 23/03/2016 that includes all the changes that the facility has been undergoing to date both at the level of facilities and productions and consumptions. The resolution of this. Registration no.: 9013E-748/2016; File no.: B1CS160151 was approved at the beginning of 2019. Additionally, wastewater is discharged into the public sewage system of the Port of Barcelona. There is a discharge authorization granted by the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona on 26/07/2016 Registration No. 6714 Exp. 2465/15 Doc. 1243/2016.

Due to the production process, atmospheric emissions of PST, CO2, VOCs, and NOx are generated, which are controlled through equipment maintenance and verified through measurements by an external company, in this case ADDIENT, showing that they are within parameters. According to the CAPCA classification of atmospheric sources. During 2019, PST measurements were carried out in Foci 702, 703, 751B, 707A, 751A, 704, 707B, and combustion gases from Foco 3171 Natural gas boiler.

The Environmental Management System applies to all the processes of the CARGILL SLU plant at its Barcelona site.

As a point to highlight and as a sign of continuous improvement and pollution prevention, included in the Center's Policy, Cargill developed at the end of the 90's an extraordinary plan for the reduction of dust emissions to minimum levels well below those existing in this type of industry worldwide. This emission prevention control plan, once developed and implemented, achieved excellent results and merited the Company's internal worldwide recognition, granting the Plant the "Achievers Recognition Award". This recognition is a prestigious award granted by CARGILL in which all Cargill Plants of all divisions worldwide compete and in which the technical improvements used are rewarded. Likewise, these minimization processes were approved by the Barcelona City Council Authorities.

The plant renewed its concession with the Port in February 2016 for the next 20 years, thus ensuring its activity in the Port of Barcelona with the implementation of several projects to improve the facilities and their operation.

Cargill's goal is to deliver nutrition globally in a safe, responsible and sustainable manner. We combine our experience with new technologies and expertise, making us a trusted partner to customers and suppliers in the food, animal nutrition, agriculture, financial and industrial sectors in more than 125 countries. To this end, we have:

✓ 160,000 employees

✓ Working in 70 countries

✓ More than 150 years of experience.

We founded our company on the belief that "Our word is our commitment". This is the standard by which we do business. We are committed to working responsibly as we pursue our goal of being the global leader in empowering people.

Cargill has been present in Spain since 1960. Today it operates through its sole legal entity, Cargill S.L.U., and has around 700 employees located at its headquarters in Sant Cugat del Vallés and production plants in Martorell, Reus, Mequinenza and Barcelona.

Cargill S.L.U. has always been committed to constant innovation and quality, both in all its products and in its manufacturing processes.

Cargill S.L.U. is structured by business units and its scope is as follows:

Agriculture. Through the Grains & Oilseeds business unit in Spain, its activity consists of:

✓ Milling of soybeans and sunflower seeds, from which flours and oils are obtained.

Refining and packaging of soybean, sunflower and corn oils, also from another of our businesses in Spain, for supply to the food industry.

✓ Import of cereals and protein meals.

The cereals, flours, oilseeds and protein crops that we process and market come mainly from Brazil, Argentina, the United States, France and the Black Sea (Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and Russia).

Sales and distribution take place mostly in Spain and Portugal and are mainly aimed at the compound feed manufacturing sector for animal feed.

The environment in which the business operates is very competitive and mature, requiring a high level of specialization and a very competitive cost structure. Currently, there is an excess of milling and refining capacity installed, as well as multiple operators, both local and international.

The business is heavily exposed to variations in supply (production) and demand (consumption). Supply, in particular, is impacted every year by the weather, and both supply and demand are also directly impacted by the macro situation of the countries where the main crops are produced and those where they are consumed, as well as by the legislation in force in each country, for example, political decisions or tariff barriers that governments may impose on certain raw materials or flows of goods between countries.

The business strategy is to become the reference leader in the animal and human food market through a differentiated offer of products and services.

Animal nutrition and protein. Our Cargill Animal Nutrition (CAN) business unit, through its NutralSCA® brand, provides highly innovative products and services to thousands of customers: animal producers, feed mills and specialty distributors.

Cargill Animal Nutrition has two production plants in Mequinenza (Zaragoza), one for the production of concentrates and feed for first ages for all species and another, inaugurated in October 2018, for the production of premixes through the most advanced technology, guaranteeing the absence of cross-contamination.

This important investment has strengthened Cargill's leadership position in the Spanish animal feed market, improving logistics and distribution systems, streamlining our services to the maximum and, consequently, the service we offer our customers.

The animal production market in Spain has consolidated in recent years as one of the most important at European and world level. Its high volume, together with the associated industrial fabric, has made it one of the world's leading exporters, fundamentally in the pork market. The meat industry is the fourth largest industrial sector in our country, behind only the automobile industry, the oil and fuel industry and the production and distribution of electrical energy. Although a significant part of the meat and livestock sector is made up of small and medium-sized companies, this has not prevented the gradual development and consolidation of large business groups, some of them leaders on a European scale.

Cargill Animal Nutrition works with its customers by adapting its products and services to the needs of animals in their different production stages, with a clear focus on food safety and sustainability. We leverage the power of global and local research and development, customizing feed and service solutions, which together with the extensive practical experience of our teams in application, product development and production processes, make us one of the leaders in animal nutrition.

Food. Cargill Starches Sweeteners and Texturizers (CSST) in Spain is focused on the manufacture of glucose, starch, starch derivatives, proteins, lipids and dietary fibers. The main raw material is corn supplied by the Grains & Oilseeds business unit in Spain. It also acts as distributor in Spain and Portugal of texturizers manufactured in European plants.

Its portfolio of natural ingredients comes from cereal extracts (starches, soy proteins, lecithins), algae (carrageenans), fruit (pectin) and sugar fermentation (xanthan gum). In turn, the applications of these ingredients extend to cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and industrial applications.

In recent years, there has been a strong consumer interest in processed products with a clean label or with a clear reduction of E numbers. For this reason, the consumption of glucose is stable, with a downward trend in fructose and its mixtures. On the other hand, there is a greater demand for native starches and starches modified by physical processes, as well as for certain texturizers such as pectins with a clear image of a clean product.

Cargill S.L.U.'s strategy is focused on offering its customers what they really ask for. That is why Cargill S.L.U. is clearly committed to the development of thermostable starches without chemical treatment, as well as texturizers led by our pectins. Likewise, as a company interested in protecting the environment, the Cargill Group has initiated a campaign aimed at the use of sustainable raw materials. We have a sustained increase plan to process cereals produced in a sustainable way (responsible use of water and fertilizers) and have initiated a project to help algae harvesting communities (mostly located in the third world) for the production of carrageenans.

Being aware that Cargill's activity may eventually generate an impact on the environment, we establish specific programs to identify and characterize the different environmental aspects, direct and indirect, related to all operations, processes, products and services of the plant, considering normal, abnormal and accidental operating conditions, and taking into account the context of the organization and stakeholders, as well as the life cycle.

Based on this assessment, we identify those significant environmental aspects/impacts in which to establish environmental improvement objectives.

The main significant environmental aspects of Cargill S.L.U. are water and energy consumption, waste generation, wastewater and air pollution.

For all these significant environmental aspects, various monitoring and operational performance activities are developed, reflected in different operating procedures or instructions.

On the other hand, possible emergency situations relating to the Environment, Health and Safety are identified and evaluated in the emergency plan of each of the Cargill, S.L.U. plants, taking into account:

✓ The identification and characterization of emergencies, inside and outside the plant, related to all operations, processes, products and services of the plant, considering normal, abnormal and accidental operating conditions, as well as those caused by factors outside Cargill's own activity;

✓ Definition of the methodology and criteria of importance used in the evaluation of emergencies;

✓ Preparation of the Emergency Plan and crisis manual.

In the case of the Barcelona and Martorell plants, their Environmental Management System has been certified by a certifying entity in accordance with the UNE-EN-ISO 14001:2015 Standard.

In addition, the Barcelona plant voluntarily adhered to the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), obtaining its first EMAS certification (E-CAT-S-000013) in 2001, in compliance with Regulation (EC) No. 1221/2009, which is renewed periodically.

Cargill works to nourish the world in a safe, responsible and sustainable way. That's why we focus on creating connections because together we can transform the world. We are uniquely positioned to connect people, to make a positive impact on the planet through the products and services we provide, while advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Our key impact areas are as follows:

As Cargill S.L.U., the company is committed to complying with all applicable legal requirements to prevent any harm to people, health or the environment, and is committed to continuous improvement in its environmental management systems and actions.
